The yearly budget needed to finance the activities of the, Michigan branch amount to $15,000, and nearly half of that has been raised so far, according to Jan Heller, Michigan direc- tor. In existence for nearly 10 years, the Youth Institute lists its purposes -as follows: • To give young people an accurate understanding of the history of the Arab- Israeli conflict, the nature of American interests in the Middle East, and the need to work for genuine Arab- Israeli reconciliation; • To build a coalition of educated youth leaders committed to defending Is- rael's existence; and • To develOp a group of trained young organizers who will utilize their prin- ciples and training in their adult careers. Based in New York, the Youth Institute is sup- ported by a direct mail fund appeal, foundation grants and grants from the Jewish Labor Committee, Histad- rut and the Anti- Defamation League of Bnai Brith. Branches are already active in Baltimore, Wash- ington and Los Angeles. The institute publishes a bulletin, "Crossroads." Friday, September 2, 1918 35 : V.I.P.
