OLDTIME DELP

LISTENIN
POST

USUALLY AT A toast or
roast, accolades are given to
the guest of honor for being
a fine person or the work
done.
There certainly is no
question about Nat Cole-
man's reputation as a won-
derful fellow . . and of
course few people are on a
par with him as a health di-
rector.
Both points were touched
upon during the recent toast
and roast in his honor at
Southfield Athletic .Club,
where Nat is the body- and
mind-building par excel-
lence head.
But, although many
may know of it, nobody
mentioned Nat's inven-
tive abilities . . . He has
put on the market a
sponge sole for women
and men to ease their legs
. . . And most recently a
knee or leg brace used by
many players of squash,
racquet ball or other Ath-
letics, to aid them along
or to prevent serious in-
juries.
Seemed like everybody
was there . . but the
crowd of 150 made the affair
a sellout first day folks
knew about it . . . South-
field Athletic Club dining
room holds 180, so quite a
few had to be refused tic-
kets. Reservations were
limited to 150.
Co-chairmen Henry
Bogorad, Harry Nelson,
Saul Nusbaum and Earl
Ruby could have sold 1,000
. . and those who attended
were glad they did.
Leonard
Barrister
Hyman looking better than
ever before . . . suave, dis-
tinguished and debonair
with his black mustache
and handsome features . . .
Wife Ginny's Oriental an-
tiquity place in Birming-
ham is called Dulany's . . .
She and Leonard recently
spent six weeks in Asia,
mostly in Mainland China,
where they have visited five
times . . . Ernie Singer, the
first one to have both his
names on stickum- badges
given for everyone's lapel
. . Billy Jacobs and Bob
Katz talking about the old
days of 40 years or more ago,
. . . then Bob and Dr. Mor-
rie Firestone going back
through the years . . .
So much reminiscing
. . . so many fellows se-
eing guys they hadn't
seen since Codd Field,
12th St., Linwood, De-
xter, etc.. . . Mortie Roth
on a diet . . . Milt
Dresner sharp in his bow
tie . . . Leo Mertz telling
about the breads and
pastries now at Max-
well's Dining.
SAC owner Jeff Schultz in
Marine Corps shirt he
bought . . . sergeant
stripes, too . . . Soon will be
seventh birthday for the
club owned by Jeff and
brother Lowell . . . Dr.
