A Holocaust exhibit of
works by Henry Friedman
will be displayed in the
Slotkin Foyer of the temple
beginning Thursday.
Born in Germany, Fried-
man is a survivor of several
concentration camps. Dur-
ing the past 15 years he
fashioned sculptures and
memorials testifying to the
tragedy he and millions of
Jews experienced at the

hands of the Nazis.
The uniqueness of his
sculptures lies in the
materials used to form
the images. He uses scrap
material made from
brass, copper and steel.
Friedman has donated a
number of his works to
Yad Vashem and ORT in
Israel.
Meanwhile,
author
Wiesel will speak 8 p.m.
Oct. 4 at the temple on "A
Jew Today."
Born in Hungary and a
survivor of Auschwitz and
Buchenwald, Wiesel is the
author of many books.
Among the honors he has
Won are the Prix Bordin of
the French Academy, the
National Jewish Book
Council Awards (1964,
1973), the Jewish Heritage
Award for Literature (1966)
and the 1968 Prix Medicis.
Wiesel holds many
honorary 'doctorate de-
grees and is the Andrew
Mellon Professor of the
Humanities at Boston
University.
The Wiesel lecture is
sponsored by the Theodore
and Mina Bargman Memo-
rial Scholar Series. The
public is invited.
