The Israelis gave:
• An implied commit-
ment they will withdraw
from most of the territory
they have occupied since
1967;
• Up their right to
militarily occupy the West
Bank; and
• Recognition that the
legitimate rights of the
Palestinians must be recog-
nized as part of a Middle
East solution.
• The American partici-
pation as a full and continu-
ing partner in the Middle
East; and
• The return of sover-
eignty in the Sinai penin-
sula.
The Egyptians gave:
• Israel the full recogni-
tion it had sought;
• The concession that its
troops and the type of
armaments will be limited
in certain parts of Egyptian
sovereign territory; and
• Israel the right to veto
members of the Egyptian
and Jordanian delegations.
An eventual Palestinian
delegation will not be sub-
ject to Israeli vetoes.

• The prospect of the end
of Israeli military occupa-
tion and the promise of the
return of almost all Egyp-
tian territory lost during
the 1967 war, including four
airfields built,since then by
the Israelis; •
• The Israelis to stop
building further settle-
ments in the Sinai and Gaza
Strip, and at least h tempor-
ary halt, for the duration of
. the negotiations, of new set-
tlements in the West Bank;

in the Camp David confer-
ence:
The Israelis got:
• A commitment for a
separate peace treaty with
Egypt, no matter what else
happens;
• A promise of a de facto
security (in the form of
peace with its neighbors) in
the West Bank, Gaza Strip
and Sinai; and
• A U.S. promise to build
them two new airfields in
the Negev desert to replace
the four that are being
given up by Israel in the
Sinai.
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
An estimated 6,000 Ameri-
can senior citizens reside in
Israel and receive U.S. So-
cial Security benefits of $1
million each month.
