ernment subsidy and 10
percent tuition. The re-
maining 25 percent was
covered by Friends of He-

out the world.

the medical school, which
dates prior to its 1949
founding. Before that time
Hebrew University resear-
chers had established hospi-
tal laboratories and were
instrumental in eradicating
malaria and glaucoma from
Palestine.
Dr. Feldman proudly
stated that three of the
deans of Israel's four medi-
cal schools are graduates of
Hebrew University's medi-
cal school, as are the major-
ity of the medical profes-
sors.

DR. GUY STERN

Wayne State University
has named Dr. Guy Stern of
the University of Maryland
to its second-highest post,
provost and vice president
for academic affairs.
Dr. Stern, a war refugee
and described as very active
in the Maryland Jewish
community, was chairman
of the department of Ger-
manic and Slavic languages
at Maryland.
