Larry Mondry of Jack
Benny AZA, Oak Park, was
elected District Six AZA
President at the recent dis-
trict convention. Larry has
been a member of AZA for
three years and was
president of Benny AZA,
and first vice president of
the Great Lakes AZA Coun-
cil.
At the recent BBYO In-
ternational Convention,
four Michigan BBYO chap-
ters were recognized as best
all-around chapters. Reci-
pients of the Henry Monsky
Award for AZA were Ale-
xander D. Goode AZA of
West Bloomfield, Gen.
Maurice Rose AZA of Oak
Park and Theodor Herzl
AZA of Windsor, Ontario.
Receiving the Miriam Al-
bert Award was Sabra BBG
of Southfield.
Other winners on the in-
ternational level were:
Cheryl Velick of Na'im
BBG, second place, Interna-
tional BBG Oratory; Herzl
AZA, Windsor, second
place, chapter level, pro-
gram of the year contest, for
its basketball marathon;
and the Great Lakes AZA
Council, second place, coun-
cil level, program of the
year contest, for its JNF
tree drive.
- The Great Lakes AZA
Council Softball League
completed its season with
Alexander D. Goode AZA
emerging as league
champs. Goode defeated
last year's league
champs, Kishon AZA, by
a score of 7-0 in the
championship game.
Joanne Altschul of
Dalyah BBG, Livonia, has
,been chosen by the BBG
Council as coordinator of
the BBYO PAL Conclave,
which will take place Oct.
27-29, at Camp Tamarack,
Ortonville.
The 1978 BBYO Kickoff
Dance will be held 8:30 p.m.
Sept. 30 at Southfield-
Lathrup High School. A live
band will be featured, and
refreshments will be served.
Admission will be free to all
nationally-registered mem-
bers of BBYO. Anyone
interested in joining an
AZA or BBG chapter should
