Riots Marked JERUSALEM (JTA) — A ceremony marking the 49th anniversary of the Hebron massacre of 1929, in which 67 Jews were killed by Arab rioters while British police looked on, was held in Heb- ron last week, with the par- ticipation of the victims' families and other guests. Interior Minister Yosef Burg, whose wife was saved by an Arab family during the massacre, spoke at the ceremony. A Torah scroll honoring the victims, begun at the ceremony, i is to be com- pleted in the coming year. Several Kiryat Arba youngsters chided Burg for closing Mishmar Hagvul Yeshiva in Kiryat Arba. Israeli Doctor Invited to Cairo JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli gynecologist has been invited to an interna- tional gynecological confer- ence to be held in Cairo at year's end. Dr. Yoram Diamand, practicing physician at Jerusalem's Hadassah Hos- pital, received official con- firmation of his invitation from the Egyptian govern- ment through the Interna- tional Organization of Gynecologists, centered in Switzerland. The conference will be held under the sponsorship of Jihan Sadat, President Anwar Sadat's wife. In its communique to Diamand, the gynecologists' organization called on Israel to send addi- tional researchers to the conference, noting that Egypt had not placed any limitation on the number of Israelis attending the con- clave.
