Friday, September 1, 1918 45 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Beth Achim Sets Reception in Advance of Bond Event Amos Ambassador Ganor, director of personnel for the Israel Ministry for Foreign Affairs, will speak at a leadership reception in behalf of State of Israel Bonds at the Farmington Hills home of hosts Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nosanchuk 8 p.m. Sept. 12. The reception will be held in advance of the annual Cong. Beth Achim-Israel Bond Tribute Dinner, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the synagogue. `Honored at the dinner will be congregation members May and Max Nosan- chuk of - Southfield, recipients-elect of the State FLINT NEWS AMOS GANOR of Israel's 30th Anniversary Award. Ganor, a member of Is- rael's diplomatic corps, was named Israel's envoy to Liberia in August of 1973. When the government of Liberia severed relations with Israel later that year, he was appointed a consul of information and cultural af- fairs at the Consulate Gen- eral of Israel in New York where he later served as de- puty consul general. A career officer in the Israel • Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1957, Ambassador Ganor began his service abroad the following year, repre- senting his country for four years at the Consu- late General of Israel in Montreal, Canada. Bond's Ambassadors Society Launch High Holiday Drive Born and educated in Tel Aviv, Ambassador Ganor took part in Israel's War of Independence and served for four years in Israel's De- fense Forces. Upon his dis- charge in 1952, he enrolled in the Tel Aviv School of Law and Economics from which he received his B.A. degree in Economics. Dur- ing his period of service at Israel's Consulate in Montreal, he obtained a De- gree in Political Science from Sir George Williams University. Gift for Carter JERUSALEM (JTA) — American President Jimmy Carter will receive an origi- nal album called "War and Peace" from Prime Minister Menahem Begin when he attends the Camp David summit next week. The album contains 20 original prints on the sub- ject of war and peace painted by Israeli artists. Worth $2,000, it was edited by a former curator of the Tel Aviv Museum.
