opened last month at the
Technion - Israel Institute
of Technology. It will serve
as a center for research and
study in the fields of pac-
kaging for industry and ag-
riculture in Israel as a
whole.
In its research, the
laboratory will function in
the following areas: the de-
velopment of new packag-
ing materials and packag-
ing systems and the appli-
cation of these new methods
to a variety of products; the
testing of selected materials

behavior under controlled

adopted by a 50-42 vote.
Baker's second resolution
was adopted without dis-
sent. This "sense of the
Congress" resolution
specified among its provi-
sions that the U.S. "should
continue to promote direct
negotiations between Israel
and Egypt and to encourage
other Arab states to enter
into negotiations leading to
peace treaties with Israel."
