firmed his strong support of

a modification of urging

LONDON —Jiri Lederer,
a 56-year-old Czech Jewish
journalist, has been trans-
ferred to a harsh, "strict re-
gime" prison in Czechos-
lovakia.
Lederer was one of the
few Jews who - signed the
Charter '77 human rights
declaration of Czechoslovak
intelligentsia. He was sen-
tenced to a three-year
prison term last October for
' subversion against the
state" and has been named a
"prisoner of conscience" by
Amnesty International.
The International Coun-
cil of Jews from Czechos-
lovakia said Lederer is the
first Czech political pris-
oner since 1972 to be sub-
jected to a "strict regime"
prison.
