Oak Park (CROP), an or-
ganization which was
formed last fall with
synagogue support as a
neighborhood association,
has announced a com-
prehensive plan to organize
block clubs in Oak Park to
help improve the neighbor-
hood.
According to Rabbi Bet-
zalel Gottlieb of Cong. Mis-
hkan Israel Nusach H'Ari
— Lubavitcher Center,
CROP is concentrating on
organizing block clubs on
each of the approximately
30 blocks in the area
bounded by Greenfield,
Coolidge, Nine Mile and
Oak Park Blvd.

tions.

Park, Kesser Shem Tov;
Debbi Engel of Oak Park,
Torah Achievement. Na-
tional awards went to Janet

New Detroit Honors Judge
Running for County Ct.

James A. Hathaway, al-
ternate chief judge of Re-
corder's Court, was honored
recently with a com-
memorative plaque from
New Detroit, Inc., recogniz-
ing his many civic contribu-
tions to the greater Detroit
metropolitan area.
Judge Hathaway, who is
a candidate for Wayne
County Circuit judge, has a
long and distinguished re-
cord of civic and gov-
ernmental service to Michi-
gan.

Judge Hathaway is a
former city attorney in
Mackinaw City, and a
former member and presi-
dent of the Detroit Board of
Education.
He has been a member
of New Detroit for more
than eight years.
A practicing attorney for
30 years and a trial judge for
the past six years, Judge
Hathaway is a former co-
editor of the Detroit Bar As-
sociation Journal, and was
formerly a member of the
Detroit Library Commis-
