Turover Aid Society Acting President Nathan
Samet, center, and Jacob Nosanchuk, right, present a
$1,000 donation to the Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel
Emergency Fund. Accepting the gift on behalf of the
Campaign, is Morris Friedman, past chairman of the
AJC-IEF's Metropolitan Division. Begun as a self-
help organization, the Turover landsmanshaften
group once had nearly 1,500 members and was the
parent organization for various sub-groups. Now,
with membership dwindling, and its original function
fulfilled by various Jewish Welfare Federation agen-
cies, the aid society has turned its attention to fund-
raising, particularly for Israel. Officers of the organi-
zation also include Anne Weinberger, treasurer; Bella
Honeyman, recording secretary; and Mrs. Sidney
Weinberger, corresponding secretary.
NEW YORK — At age
101 Harry Lieberman is en-
joying life as a noted artist
with several hundred paint-
ings — oils, watercolors and
acrylics — which have been
displayed at top art gal-
leries.
Beginning at age 80 with
his new career, Lieberman
has been likened to Chagall
in that he draws on his
Polish childhood for inspi-
ration for his work, accord-
ing to the August issue of
Reader's Digest.
