28 Friday, kly 21 1978 , THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Danny Raskin's iThe Best of Everything NEWEST SEAFOOD restaurant in our midst is appropriately called The Sea Shell . . . on John R., just north of 15 Mile in Troy. It seats 130 for dinner . . . all tables with. tufted chairs . . . plus a lounge that accommodates 60 .. . outside, an unpretentious, free-standing building with loads of parking space. The menu includes 24 en- trees, of which 18 are sea- food . . . Sea Shell is a quietly intimate restaur- ant, and the prices are most reasonable. All the fish is freshly de- livered daily . . . there is no frozen seafood (except Dover sole and lobster tails) . . . or the so-called fresh- frozen variety . . . Most of the dishes are amondined, unless otherwise desired. Sea Shell is owned by George Ribuschofski, who was attending school in Yugoslavia dur- ing World War II . . . sometimes without bread to eat . . . He came to America in 1958, was a busboy at State Coffee Shop on Woodward and Columbia . . . Kingsley Inn as busboy and then waiter . . . Jim Cor- nelius' Knife & Fork (where the Press Club now stands downtown), Northwood Inn under Mildred Hund, Sheraton and then 10 years as food and beverage manager at Holiday Inn of South- field. Our waiter, Randy Senick, had worked three years at Buddy's in the Trio, and was there til the end. With his smooth, efficient ways, Randy brought Frieda a piece of Red Snap- per which tasted as good as it looked . . . After our New England Clam Chowder soup, which was far from the skimpy kind, we had Filet of Perch sauteed (you can also have it pan-fried) ... delicious and tender. George, still the gracious host as always, brought us two chilled glasses and then opened a choice bottle of French Graves Superieurs white Bordeaux wine. For a limited time during the grand opening of Sea Shell, you can have a one pound live lobster dinner for $8.95 . . . But call ahead, 689-1258, and make sure they haven't run out . . . Tell George to put aside as many as you want. When a person craves sea food, it's nice to go to a re- staurant that specializes in it . . . and doesn't try to gouge you price-wise . . . The Sea Shell is just begin- ning . . and if you don't expect the world, you'll have a most enjoyable din- ner there. TOM COLEMAN is the new owner of Figurehead restaurant, Nine Mile, just west of Telegraph . . . with 55 seats in 11 booths and a counter. Tom is a deli man from the Dexter days . . . with Ben & George . . . Later bossman of his own spots, Menu-ette and then Boes- ky's before selling out on 10 Mile and Lahser. His Figurehead eatery is a neat-looking operation and serves Vienna products. SWEET SMILING even- ing waitress at Point After Deli, 12 Mile and North- western, is Karen "Keb" Witt, who tries very hard to please. Place mats at Point After recently were deceiving ... Had all the exotic drinks but didn't mean the Dong family had acquired a liquor license. RUNT'S AMBITION is the name of a drink . . 2 oz. rum, 2 oz. gin, 2 oz. whis- key and 2 oz. port wine . . Shake with ice; strain. Ever have a Sherry and Egg? . . . Pour in a whiskey glass enough sherry to cover the bottom to prevent the egg from sticking to the glass . . . Break into this an ice-cold egg . . . add the amount of sherry desired. JIMMY LAUNCE PRO- ductions, has been retained to produce full-length Broadway shows at Some- rset Mall (theater located in the lower level.) Somerset is the longest- running dinner theater lo- cation in this area, and its shows were formerly pro- duced by the team of Pierre Turgeon and Jimmy Launce. Aug. 4 opens with Neil Simon's comedy, "Barefoot in the Park." Plus being a well-known WJR morning radio person- ality, Jimmy has also had 23-years stage experience, including a wonderful por- trayal of Mel Edison in "Prisoner of Second Av- enue." NEWEST LITTLE Caesar operation is in a familiar building . . . Was the former Federico Fettu- cini on Orchard Lake Rd. near Middlebelt. Same luxury-type kitchen . . . same free cheese bar set-up, too, with those delicious fresh-baked rolls. Pasta, dinner, sandwiches on fresh rolls and a full line of pizza, in- cluding the Best With Ev- erything, Little Caesar's The heron blames the water because he cannot swim. Having An Affair?
