Sadat: Implementing Peace
More Difficult than Accord

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Pres-
ident Anwar Sadat of Egypt
said that the signing of a
peace agreement with Is-
rael was, for him, only a
first step, and that finding
ways to implement it may
be more difficult than the
signing.
"It. is not the agreement
that is the prime goal, it is
peace," Sadat told David
Shahan and -Willie Gafni,
editors of the Socialist-

Zionist oriented magazine,
New Outlook, who visited
him at his vacation retreat
near Salzburg, Austria, last
week.
Excerpts from the inter-
view appeared in Yediot
Achronot. While the Egyp-
tian leader insisted that
Egypt has no more reserva-
tions, no feelings of hatred
for Israelis, he was critical
of Premier Menahem Begin.
The children of the
Community House Kin-
dergarten in Jerusalem's
Beit Hakerem quarter
were also the recipients
of a message from the
Egyptian President. Re-
plying, in Hebrew, to a
letter the youngsters had
sent to him last winter
While Israel and Egypt
were still engaged in di-
rect peace talks, Sadat
spoke of his hopes for
peace following his visit
to Jerusalem.
Sadat's letter was written
last May but was only just
conveyed to the youngsters
through U.S. Ambassador
Samuel Lewis.

LISTENING
POST

SUSAN AND BAR-
NETT LEET can claim a
very unusual circumstance
that happened during the
reception at their recent
marriage ... Linda Anstan-
tig, who caught the bouquet
thrown by Susan, and Jim
Meyers catching the garter
tossed by Barnett, have
been going together for six
years ... and the bouquet-
garter combo will make it
all come true when they tie
the knot next spring.
Susie and Barnett's wed-
ding at Cong. Bnai David
was a dandy ... amid the
surroundings of one of our
most beautiful synagogues
. and the reception, even
with the air conditioning
out, was more than folks
could ask for as Quality
Kosher Catering of Anja
Moultner, son-in-law Paul
Cohen, chef Dale Schulman
and excellent waitresses
like Olivia Rucker, made it
a very delicious dinner ...
while Jerry Fenby's band
with George Benson blow-
ing a great saxophone, was
very lively ... Murray
Grushoff of L & T Florist,
did a beautiful job with the
flowers ... especially on the
sweet table, one of the finest
we have yet seen ... every
type of goodie imaginable
made by Quality Caterers
themselves.
At the ceremony
Rabbi Morton Yolkut refer-
ring to Barnett as B.J. be-
cause that's what he wanted
to be called under the hupa
. Susie letting out a little
scream as the train of her
wedding gown caught onto
something ... Applause as
the bridal procession came
down the aisle after the "I
Do" proceedings.

At the reception ...
Battle of the five big fans
as people kept getting up
to move them their way
. Air conditioning in
dining room only had
broken down and
couldn't be fixed in time
because a needed part
wasn't made anymore ...
Nate Light, "father of the
bride" selling tickets to
the Mr. & Mrs. Group
Moonlight while mother
Irene went around mak-
ing sure everybody was
having a good time ...
Ruby Samson amazing
people by the amount of
pickles he can eat ... then
dancing with
Les
Greenspan ... So people
wouldn't talk, Ruby also
danced with wife Pauline
and Les with wife Revs
•• -
Ork leader Jerry Fenby
announcing that all men
were invited to take off their

tually too cold — wore a

the halla at his table and
wife Sarah telling him he
had the knife wrong-side up
Sophie Hoffman with a
beautiful deep tan and
hubby Harry off with his tie

and jacket long before any-
one else ... Buddy Nathan-
son a close second behind
Harry ...
Jean and Sid Charness
back living in Detroit ...
Sid and Marty Bruseloff
talking produce ... Marty
has Farmer Zeke's on Seven
Mile and Schaefer ... Sid
was in the produce business
30 years ago ... Lottie
Bruseloff without the long
red hair ... Two-fisted Sol
Light with hands full of
cold, drink-filled glasses ...
making it through all obs-
tacles.
Susie and Barnett stay-
ing the entire evening ...
then leaving in Barnett's
Corvette customized by
himself ... left outside
without a bodyguard.
ATTORNEY SAM
POSNER is now a member
of the "Hole-In One Club"
... making his ace on the
Pontiac Municipal course
... witnessed by Leo Silver
and Alvin Strom.
WHAT A WAY to start a
marriage ... Greta and Sol
Cash tieing the knot 26
years ago ... First anniver-
sary, Sol went out of town
with her father ... Greta's
parents, Fay and Maurice
Poulin also recently celeb-
rated their 57th anniver-
sary.
MARC SHEPARD, son
o f Elliott and Sally Shepard,
member of Phi Beta
Kappa, has made his pa-
rents mighty proud of him
... graduating from medi-
cal school at Northwestern
University ... and now in

ERRATA ... Correct
spelling of gal we sent get
well wishes to is Kaggie

AL KRAMER, former
state representative, never
thought he'd put up another
sign after his heart attack of
four years ago ... But here
is Al in the race for Oakland
County Circuit Judge ...
and helping with ,those
signs again.
UNTIL LAST WEEK,
Jungle Jima, next to Dave's
Deli on Orchard Lake Rd. in
Keego Harbor, owned what
was said to be the largest
macaw in the world, a
Hyacinth macaw stretching
34" across and valued at
$8,000 ...It had a beak
pressure of 3,000 pounds
and ate coconuts.
Now owner Jim Soules
has another biggie ... a
Green Wing macaw ... one
of the largest ... with a
beak pressure of 2,500
pounds that cracks coconuts
with ease —"Took a lot of
guts to open the box and get
him out," says Jungle Jim
. . . Also on display is beaut-
iful Toco Tucan, and Baret-
ta's Cockatoos of TV fame.
Only the birds are out of
cages ... sitting on their
perches, majestically look-
ing pretty.
