This problem was further exacerbated by the need to serve growing numbers .of newly arrived Russian im- migrants. As a result, the branch will move in August from its quarters in the Jewish Family Service building to the Soble Build- ing at Lincoln and Green- field. Hertzberg noted the branch was founded seven years ago with two staff members to serve a few hundred clients. Last year, the branch had a staff of 20 and served several thousand. Another achievement for the year noted by Hertzberg was the inten- sification of a vocational rehabilitation program to include engineering' techniques. In addition, the staff of this special project to serve the se- verely disabled had begun training profes- sionals in other work- shops to enable them to implement some of the new vocational rehabili- tation counseling techniques developed by the agency. A third major achieve- ment was the expansion of services to mentally re- tarded Wayne County resi- dents.
