for WSU Awards
Mrs. Linden Will Direct
Detroit's Music Study Club
Dr. Cynthia Colvin of
Wayne State University's
college of education was
named the only woman
candidate for the "Presi-
dent's Excellence in Teach-
ing Award" at ceremonies
June 14 on campus.
Mrs. Victor H. Linden
was installed as president of
the Music Study Club of
Metropolitan Detroit at its
annual installation lunc-
heon last week at the
Raleigh House.
Other officers are: Mes-
dames George R. Kerwin
and Felix Rosenwach, vice
presidents; Bernard
Nathan, Charles Kramer
and Arthur Brown, sec-
retaries; and Mark Howard,
treasurer.
Elected to the board of di-
rectors were Mesdames
George Charnas, Hyman
Goodman, Bernard
Ginsberg, Gerald Rowan,
John Schneider and Ms.
Bertha Weil.
Dr. Colvin joined the
WSU faculty in 1954, and
since 1970 has been a full
professor in teacher educa-
tion.
Prof. Milton Covensky,
who has been on the WSU
staff for more than 25 years,
also received the award. Dr.
Covensky is a specialist in
ancient history, historiog-
raphy and the history of re-
ligion.

Harold Goldman, professor
of pharmacology. Goldman
joined the WSU faculty in
1974.

The Jewish Community
Center announces story
hours for children age 4 and
5 will take place 10:30 a.m.
Tuesdays and 2:30 p.m.
Thursdays in the library of
the main Center complex.
There will be two series, the
first beginning July 11 and
13, and the second, Aug. 15
and 17.
There also will be a sum-
mer reading club for chil-
dren in grades one-six.
Theme for the club is "The
12 Tribes of Israel."
Youngsters may register on
July 5 or later, and should
read 12 books during the
summer. In August, there
will be a party for the par-
ticipants.
