He is vice chairman of the Southeast Michigan Coun- cil of Governmenfs, member of the Regional Affairs Committee of the National Association of County Offi- cials and director, Oakland County Traffic Improve- ment Association. Pernick also is chair- man of the Jewish Com- munity Council's civil liberties committee and is a director of the brother- hood of Temple Israel. Pernick was a proponent of the board's funding for the Road Commission to help local road improve. ment projects. Pernick also co-sponsored the initial County funding for SEMTA in its formative years, es- tablishment of the County Cultural Council, Child Care Council, Unified County Government Legis- lation and decentralization of county offices including the treasurer's branch at 13 Mile and Lahser. Pernick was also the first commis- sioner to propose the adop- tion of a code of ethics for county officials and employees. Pernick has been respon- sible for policy changes that have resulted in a reduction of the private passenger car fleet for county employees. In addition he formed a vol- untary citizens task force that brought about im- provements in the county data processing operation. The Ann Arbor Chabad House, located at 715 Hill, will continue programming throughout the summer. Services will be held 7 aan. daily, 7:30 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Shabat services are followed by a seuda. The Kosher Korner Re- staurant in the house will be open for lunch and din- ner on all days that are not Jewish holidays. There is a charge. Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Hours for Shabat will be adjusted to an earlier closing time, and there is no charge on Shabat.
