The AJCommittee also declared that the adoption of legislation now before Congress to grant such cre- dits would "reduce the re- sources available for sup- port of public education." In a statement by its na- tional education committee made public by Mrs. Carol N. Stix, education chair- man, the AJCommittee pointed out that the tax cre- dit legislation, adopted by the House of Representa- tives and currently pending in the Senate, would pro- vide income tax reductions for all parents who send their children to non-public schools, regardless of their income. The AJCommittee added that if the princi- ple of partial reimburse- ment for tuition costs were legitimate, there would be inevitable pres- sure to grant tax credits for the total amoqnts of dialogue via Washington and dwelt on Egypt's impor- tant role in a future final settlement of the West Bank and, especially, the Gaza Strip issues. He ap- pears to believe, as do the Americans, that only a posi- tive reply by Israel indicat- ing flexibility and a wil- lingness to compromise, could lead to a resumption of the stalled peace talks with Egypt. Weizman also recom- mended at last Sunday's Cabinet meeting that Is- rael accept Washington's unofficial proposal that, with respect to political self-expression for the Palestinians, it agree to eventual quadripartite rule between Israel, Jor- dan, Egypt and the local Palestinians. He stressed that agreement would have to be by consensus, obviating the possibility that Israel would be out National Position NEW YORK—Emily W. Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan differed from Weiz- man in that he stressed a Jordanian rather than Egyptian role not only on the West Bank but in the Gaza Strip where he would prefer Jordanian to Egyp- tian influence. Dayan en- visioned co-existence with Jordan on the West Bank whereby Amman would have the greater role in the political and administrative affairs of the local populace while Israel retained its control over security in the territory. Weizmann made a sur- prize trip last week to Lon- don and Zurich and has re- fused to discuss the trip. Upon his return to Jerusalem he met with Begin for 20 minutes.
