I was in a "kibutz" with
people waiting to go to Is-
rael, and on Yom Kippur
we had to stay in our
building because we
were afraid for our lives.
Four former partisans
wearing Russian military
uniforms were guarding
us. After a few days,
when the situation
calmed down, we sur-
vivors all tried to leave
Poland.
I do not believe that the
Poles will complete the
Jewish Pavillion at Au-
schwitz. I would also like
Dr. Goldmann to know that
"Holocaust" did not show a
quarter of what we went
through in Auschwitz. We
had to get up at 1 a.m. and
stay up till 8 a.m. just to be
counted. In the morning, we
were freezing because we
were underdressed, and at
noon the sun beat on our
heads because they had cut
our hair.
The survivors have the
right, and the knowledge, to
judge people.

Editor, The Jewish News
In an article in the May 4,
1978, Jewish News, Dr.
Nahum Goldmann assailed
the NBC-TV mini-series
"Holocaust" for comparing
Poles with Nazis. I was born
in Krakow, Poland, and am
a survivor of Auschwitz
concentration camp. It is my
first-hand experience that
Poland was always an
anti-Semitic country.
From the beginning of
World War II, 99 percent of
the Poles helped the Nazis
torture Jews. Dr. Goldmann
also mentioned that he
would like Jewish leaders to
meet in Auschwitz. I think
this would be a big mistake.
Poland has always wanted
to be without Jews. So why
should the Jewish people
now bring in dollars and
needed prospertiy to Po-
land?
In June 1945, I and five
other girls arrived in
Krakow by train. In the
streetcar on the way to the
Jewish office, I heard the
Poles saying, "still so many
are alive."
In September of the
same year the Poles con-
ducted pogroms in
Krakow and other cities.

The Israeli students will

for the camp's celebration of
Israel's 30th anniversary.
The Israeli and British
youth will have a chance to

the community on their
days off, when they will stay
