In New Jersey, two sis-
ters who recognized their
mother's photograph
among pictures of Jewish
victims of the Holocaust
which were aired during
the NBC-TV Holocaust
special in April, traced
the photograph through
the American Jewish
Committee library in
New York. The women
said it was the first time
that they had actual
proof that their mother
perished in a concentra-
tion camp.
In Amsterdam, Nazi
hunter Simon Wiesenthal
has asked the Dutch gov-
ernment to request the ex-
tradition of Gustav Franz
Wagner, an alleged Nazi
war criminal living in
Brazil.
Wiesenthal has identified
Wagner as the former de-
puty commander of the
Treblinka and Sobibor con-
centration camps who was
responsible for the mass
murders of Jews between
1942-44, including 32,000
Dutch Jewish deportees at
Sobibor.
The Netherlands Au-
schwitz Committee and The
Netherlands Wiesenthal
Fund have also asked the
government to seek
Wagner's extradition.
Wagner, detained by Sao
Paulo police last week, has
denied that he was a rank-
ing officer at the concentra-
tion camps.

Wiesenthal, who heads
the Nazi war crimes
documentation center in
Vienna, said in a Dutch
television interview that
the date and place of
Wagner's birth, July 18,
1911 in Vienna and the
Bank
names of his parents were
Cards
identical with those of the
Sobibor deputy commander.
Honored
No other staff member at
Sobibor had the surname
e Wagner, Wiesenthal said.
