As one of nine members of an official delegation of lieutenant governors, Damman received a first- hand look a many aspects of the Holy Land and met with top Israeli officials, in- cluding— Prime Minister Menahem Begin and Shi- mon Peres, leader of the Labor Party. Damman was particu- larly interested in Israel's economic development. Besides the develop- ment of the Dead Sea area, the group viewed advanced agricultural techniques in the kibut- zim of the Galilee. The tour included stops at holy places in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the Galilee, and a visit at the "Good Fence" on the Lebanese border. Damman met with Minis- ter of Defense Ezer Weiz- man in Tel Aviv and planted trees in the Ameri- can Bicentennial Park. The concert this year will be held at Cong. Shaarey Zedek on Nov. 12 Mrs. Philip Slomovitz, program chairman, announced at the annual meeting that a Russian-born Israeli vio- linist who is gaining world acclaim and a duo from the Boston Symphony Or- chestra will be featured at this year's concert.
