Oak Park, Mich. 48237 c- 96-8826 PARIS (JTA) — Several prominent Jews and some of Israel's best friends in• Fr- ance attended a banquet Monday for King Khaled of Saudi Arabia who was in Paris for a two-day state visit. The affair honoring Khaled was given by Presi- dent Valery Giscard D'Esta- ing in the Historic Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. According to of- ficial sources, the guest list was shown to the Saudis as a matter of protobol and they raised no objections. In the official talks that preceded the affair, the Saudi ministers of defense and foreign affairs who are accompanying Khaled dis- appointed their French hosts by making it clear that they had no intention of buying the advanced Diamonds and Fine Jewelry announces their Anniversary Sate Swiss Vandalism Come See For Yourself 642-5895 1st blk S. of Maple in Downtown Birmingham oao-sao Daily Fri. til 9 • Mirage 2000 fighter planes that France is eager to sell. The ministers repor- tedly explained that the U.S. agreement to supply Saudi Arabia with 80 F-15• jets left them "adequately protected" and that in any event their agree ment with the Pentagon precludes the purchase of more warplanes out- side of the U.S. The Saudis stressed, however, that they want to "keep all options open" and intend to go "full speed ahead" with the implemen- tation of their 1975 agree- ment with France for the development of the organi- zation of Arab industry. Under that agreement, Fr- ance will supply the techni- cal expertise for the con- struction of industrial plants in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. - NEW YORK — The American Jewish Congress will join the NAACP in sup- porting a group of Black pa- rents in Malverne, L.I. who are asking the New York State Commissioner of Edu- cation to order the local school district to pay for transporting their children to elementary schools nearly two miles away. A hearing will be held next week in Albany by Commissioner Gordon M. Ambach on a petition by the parents following a vote by Malverne residents reject- ing — for the 10th time since 1971 — their request for transportation. cRivnann i 128 S.
