FOR THE FIRST time
in about five years, someone
from the Metropolitan De-

prize in the International
Science Fair ... Andy Papp,
son of Terry and Leo, took a
first in physics at Anaheim,
Calif. for his project, an
electron microscope he had
built ... and won a grand
prize in March at the Metro
Science Fair that sent him
to the California competi-
tion ... Andy is a junior at
Harrison High in Far-
mington Hills.

turned to Irving saying,
"I'm sorry." ... He shot
back, "No you're not!" ..
She offered to pick them up
and he said, "Okay, but you •
better do a good job!" . . . The
genteel lady asked how
much the set was and Irving
retorted, "I am not telling
you until you pick every one
up!"
He's a show in himself ...
Many people like to shop at
Spitzer's because of the
entertainment he unknow-

cently decided to give up
smoking . . . After a few
days his nerves were pretty
taut .. . One morning he
had had about enough of
work, and called his wife,
Ella, to say he was coming
home ... On the way, Ar-
nold passed an automobile
showroom and saw a sports
car in the window ... He
went in, closed the deal and
drove the car right off the
floor ... When he parked
the car in the driveway, Ella
came out and exclaimed,
"What's this?" . .. Arnold
replied, "Well, it was either
this — or a cigarette."

LONDON (JTA)— Warm
appreciation of Israeli Pre-
mier Menahem Begin's atti-
tude towards traditional
Judaism and support for his
political efforts were voiced
here by Sir Israel Brodie,
the Chief Rabbi Emeritus of
Britain and the Common-
wealth.
Sir Israel, in an interview
with the Jewish Tele-
graphic Agency, said that
Begin, "who does not hesi-
tate to invoke divine help —
(ezrat hashem) — in his
speeches," has created a
"very favorable impression"
among Orthodox Jews.
Begin was "more posit-
ive" towards religion than
his Labor Party predeces-
sors who often had to be
'pushed," Sir Israel said.
For decades, Orthodox Jews
had been unhappy at the
way in which Labor Zionists
had emphasized the secular
demands of Israel.
Sir Israel, who was 83
this month, also reviewed
the changes which Israel
had made over the past 30
years. Until the estab-
lishment of Israel, there
had been a lot of animos-
ity to Zionism. But once
Israel was established
there was an immediate
change, and many of
those who had opposed
Zionism in theory, sup-
ported the Jewish state in
practice, he observed.

In the past 30 years, Sir
Israel added, the idea of be-
longing to one family had
increased, as a result of
common suffering and of
common hopes.
A life-long Zionist, Sir Is-
rael was appointed British
Chief Rabbi in 1948.

It ain't no
skinny dip.

Our roast beef sandwich isn't just a couple of thin slices of meat
thrown onto a piece of bread. It's a savory combination of U.S.D.A.
Choice roast beef, heaped upon our Hearthstone toast, and enhanced
with a tasty au jus sauce.
In fact, the only thing skinny about our roast beef sandwich
is the price.
