Illinois Senate Trys to Block Proposed Skokie Nazi March

CHICAGO (JTA) — Two
bills were passed by the Il-
linois State Senate last
week designed to circum-
vent court rulings which
would permit Nazis to stage
a much-publicized march in
Skokie, a Chicago suburb
which is the home of 7,000
Holocaust survivors, the
Jewish United Fund (JUF)
of Metropolitan Chicago re-
ported.
A JUF spokesman said
the bills were sent to the

Musical Suite
from 'Holocaust'
NEW YORK — RCA Re-
cords has released a musical
suite by Morton Gould
taken from the soundtrack
of NBC's "Holocaust" tele-
vision special. The National
Philharmonic Orchestra of
London made the recording.
Meanwhile, the 91/2-hour
TV special has been pur-
chased for broadcast in
Britain, West Germany,
Australia, Japan, Brazil,
Korea, Hong Kong, Ven-
ezuela and Puerto Rico.
The TV show's pro-
ducer, Robert Berger,
has defended the show
against criticism that it
used a former Nazi SS
officer as an adviser.

Berger said the man was
paid to answer three ques-
tions by telephone. He said
several former German
army officers also worked
on the show and "I don't care
if Hitler worked on it, it
doesn't invalidate what it

The Jewish National
Fund will move to larger
quarters, located at 27308
Southfield Rd., near 11 Mile
Rd. in Southfield on June 1,
it was announced by Mark
E. Schlussel, president of
the Greater Detroit Jewish
National Fund Council.
The JNF had been at the
Greenfield location for more
than 10 years.
