Reform Jewish Appeal Dinner
to Honor Beth El's Benard Maas

Philanthropist Benard L.
Maas will be honored by the
Reform Jewish Appeal at
the fourth annual RJA
Dinner sponsored by the
Metropolitan Detroit Fed-
eration of Reform
Synagogues.
The event, which brings
together the five local Re-
form congregations, will
take place 6:30 p.m. June 4
at Temple Beth El.
Albert Vorspan, author,
humorist, vice president of
the Union of American He-
brew Congregations and
co-director of its Social Ac-
tion Commission, will be
guest speaker.
Maas will be honored
with a special presenta-
tion to be awarded by
Matthew H. Ross, chair-
man of the board of
UAHC.
A member of Temple Beth
El, Maas has been on the

temple board for many
years. The chapel of the new
congregation bears his
name.
A native of New York,
who grew up in Indiana,
Maas contributed exten-
sively toward the Indiana
Pylon at the John F. Ken-
nedy Memorial in
Jerusalem.
President of B.L. Maas
Associates, Inc., a supplier
of parts to the automobile
industry, Maas has created
a dozen different schol-
arships for Jewish and gen-
eral causes, is a life member
of the Jewish Chautauqua
Society and sponsored a
health lodge at Camp
Tamarack that bears his
name.

chairman of the June 4
dinner, and co-chairmen
are Hortense Interess,
Lillian Maltzer, Marshall

Senate on the packaged jet

in favor of the President's
proposal by Senator Ab-
raham Ribicoff (D-Conn.)
