Northfield Hilton's Hur-
ley's, Crooks Rd. at 1-75, is
called SCAT.
Although SCAT's style is
a well-blended sound, the
band derives its name from
a verb meaning to impro-
vise song with accompani-
ment.
After playing individu-
ally for years. SCAT mem-
bers banded together in
1976 and quickly developed
a following in the Ann
Arbor area . . . The group
produced an album of signa-
ture tunes from the 40's,
50's and 60's and is cur-
rently collecting material
for a second album.

STAURANTS are taking a

major step toward energy
and water conservation
with the adoption of a
"water on request only" pol-
icy by the Michigan Re-
staurant Association.
The board of directors of
MRA represents 1,600 re-
staurants in Michigan.
MRA is also making
available, at cost (seven
cents each), table tents to
publicize the policy in re-
staurants . . . They are
available to members and
non-members by phoning
