prizes.
The program will open
with Israeli Melodies for
strings by Julius Chajes in
honor of Israel's Indepen-
dence Day. Tickets are
available at the Center's
cashier.
The Center, meanwhile,
has announced some pro-
grams of interest to senior
citizens. The senior adult
department will present a
program in its Sunday Nite
Musicale Series 8 p.m. May
7 at the 10 Mile Center
Branch. The Bel Canto
Choral Society will perform,
directed by Dan Braude,
with Shelly Lakin as ac-
companist. There is a
charge, and refreshments
will be served.
The Yiddish film,
"Green Fields," with
English subtitles, will be
shown 8 p.m. May 13 and
14 and 1 p.m. May 15 at
the 10 Mile Jewish Cen-
ter. There is a charge.

the First Annual Chai Long
Distance Run at the Jewish
Community Center of Met-
ropolitan Detroit.
The Chai Long Distance
Run will feature four dis-
tances for participants to
accomplish, 3-6-12-18
(Chai) miles. Each runner
will receive a special com-
memorative T-shirt. All
participants completing 18
(Chai) miles will receive a
sterling silver pendant de-
s igned for this event by
Morris Bednarsh.
The Chai Long Distance
Run Committee is co-
chaired by Louis Milgrom
and Phil Minkin, "When
you are physically healthy
you are alert, better moti-
vated and happier. Jogging
can keep the participant in
good physical and mental
condition. We are confident
that joggers from the Met-
ropolitan Detroit area will
want to participate in this
