Israeli Youth Reply to Local
Peers Who Aided JNF
Nearly 1,000 pupils of
Jewish schools in the De-
troit area who have partici-
pated in the Jewish Na-
tional Fund's Children's
Forest in Israel project arts
receiving greetings froth
fellow students in Israel,
partners in the project, it
was announced by Percy
Kaplan, Greater Detroit
and Michigan JNF execu-
tive director.
Each Detroit area child
who planted 11/2 trees and a
student in Israel of about
the same age who also
planted 11/2 trees, together
shared in the planting of a
tree in memory of a child
who died in the Holocaust.

More than a million
Jewish children died in the
Holocaust. The Children's
Forest located in the hills of
western Galilee, will have a
million trees planted by
Jewish children in the
Diaspora in partnership
with the children of Israel.
The dedication of the forest
is a highlight of the celebra-
tion of Israel's 30th an-
niversary.
The letters from the Is-
raeli pupils are in He-
brew and the Detroit area
children are expected to
reply.
The greetings from Israel
were in various forms, in-
cluding drawings, coins and
other expressions of friend-
ship.
The participants in the
JNF Children's Forest proj-
ect are students of day, af-
ternoon, synagogue and
temple schools.

12 tsp. coffee powder
(not freeze-dried)

Melt chocolate in water In
the top of a double boiler, stir-
ring constantly. Let it cool
completely. Beat in egg yolks
and coffee powder. Beat egg
whites until stiff. Fold whites
into chocolate mixture. Place
into Individual wine goblets.
Chill overnight. Serves 8.

The new Mrs. Freed-
man was graduated from
the University of
Pennsylvania, where she
earned BA and master's
degrees. Her husband
was graduated from
McGill University, or-
dained by the Jewish
Theological Seminary
and holds a PhD degree
in Assyriology from
Columbia University.
The couple is living in
New York City.
