reception by his alma ma
ter, The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America, 8
p.m. May 16 at Cong Beth
Achim. Rabbi Milton Arm
will present the Certificate
of Appreciation award to
the honoree and Rabbi Is-
rael J. Kazis of Cong. Mis-
hkan Tefila, Chestnut Hill,
Mass., and brother-in-law of
Rabbi Gorrelick, will be the
guest speaker. Leonard S.
Herman is serving as
chairman of the tribute.
Rabbi Gorrelick, rabbi
emeritus of Cong. Beth
Achim, was graduated from
the Teachers Institute of
The Jewish Theological
Seminary in 1926, ordained
by the seminary, summa
cum laude in 1933 and
awarded the institution's
Honorary Doctor of Divinity
in 1966. He received his
secular training at the Col-
lege of the City of New York
and Harvard University.
He formerly held pulpits
in Cambridge, Mass., and
Albany, N.Y., before com-
ing to Detroit. Rabbi Gor-
relick served as chaplain in
the United States Army
during World War II where
he helped rescue many dis-
placed persons.

Rabbi Gorrelick was
chairman of the Rabbini-
cal Assembly of America,
Michigan Branch, and
was formerly a member
of the organization's
executive board. He

board member of the
Jewish Welfare Board,
Detroit Jewish Commu-
nity Council, Zionist
Organization of Detroit
and the United Hebrew
Schools.

Rabbi Gorrelick was the
recipient of the Prime
Minister's Award from the
State of Israel Bonds Organ-
ization. He is a founder of
the Hillel Day School and
member of Bnai Brith. He is
a board member of the
Zionist Organization of
America, Jewish National
Fund and a member of the
Rabbinical Assembly of
America among other
organizations.
