Two Wayne State Uni-
versity professors have been
named the recipients of the
16th annual Probus Club
Awards for Academic
Achievement.
They are: Dr. Margo P.
Cohen, associate professor
of medicine and physiology,
and Dr. Bryan D. Jones,
associate professor of politi-
cal science.
The awards, granted an-
nually to WSU faculty in
the fields of the humanities
and natural sciences, in-
clude $1,000 grants, with-
out restrictions, and Probus
Club- plaques. Dr. Cohen
and Dr. Jones will receive

Dr. Cohen joined the
faculty at the WSU Medi-
cal School in September
1971. She received BS
and MD degrees from the
University of Michigan
and a PhD degree in
biochemistry from the
University of Buenos
Aires. Dr. Cohen pursued
graduate work in
biochemistry at WSU.
In addition to her clinical
and teaching duties at
WSU, Dr. Cohen is chief of
the section of endocrinology
and metabolism at Detroit
General Hospital and
serves as a consultant in
endocrinology at all Detroit
Medical Center hospitals.
Since joining the WSU fa-
culty, Dr. Cohen has con-
tinued her earlier research
in the field of diabetes with
particular concern for mic-
roangiopathy, a major prob-
lem among diabetic
patients -which leads to the
deterioration of vision and
kidney functions.
Dr. Jones, a member of
the WSU faculty since
January 1972, received
his BA degree in 1966
from the University of
Alabama where he
earned membership in
Phi Beta Kappa. Dr.
Jones was a National De-
Tense Act Fellow and

low at the University of
Texas from which he was
awarded his PhD degree
in 1970.
In addition to serving the
department of- political sci-
ence, Dr. Jones also is a fa-
culty associate at the Insti-
tute of Gerontology (WSU -
the University of Michi-
gan).
Dr. Jones was recently
awarded a major research
grant from the Administra-
tion on Aging of the De-
partment of HEW to con-
duct a computer study of the
utilization of governmental
services by the elderly.

Esther Rosenbloom Elected
President of Women's League

Esther Rosenblum will be
installed as president for a
second term of the League of
Jewish Women's Organiza-
tions of Greater Detroit at
its 51st annual installation
to be held at noon May 11 at
Temple Emanu-El.
A complimentary petite
luncheon will- be served.
The invocation will be given
by Mrs. Bernard Eisenberg,
president of the Sisterhood
of Temple Emanu-El. Pro-
gram chairman, Mrs. Mor-
ton Oppenheim, announces
the program will feature
Max Sosin and piano ac-
companist, Hal Gordon,
both of whom will be hon-
ored "for their 13 years of
service to Cooperative
Council."
