THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Junior Division Coloring Book Explains Federation to Kids Members of the Jewish Welfare Federation's Junior Division have de- veloped a novel method for teaching children about Federation and the Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel Emergency Fund. It's the "Federation Coloring and Fun Book," a series of line drawings illus- trating short, simple mes- sages about Federation's work. Shelley Navarre, a teacher who is a member of the Junior Division's Schools and Youth Cam- paign, prepared the booklet and distributed it to the children of Cong. Beth Shalom's religious school during a presentation there. Junior Division member Sandy Young assisted Ms. Navarre in producing the book. Junior Division pro- grams at other area schools have utilized var- ious educational tools, including felt boards, role-playing, quizzes and slides. The Schools and Youth Campaign is headed by Jonathan Roth.
