Skokie and the Holocaust

Editor, The Jewish News:
At a time when the
fashionability of Nazism
has increased to the point
that these pathetic perverts
are organizing public ac-
tivities such as the proposed
march on Skokie, ill., it is
necessary that three facts
about the Holocaust be re-
viewed.
Firstly, the Holocaust
really happened. The fact
that neo-Nazis can even
debate the validity of this

0

truth indicates a total fail-
ure on the part of our educ-
tors and newsmen.
Secondly, Americans
were fully informed of the
slaughter of European
Jewish children, and men
and women. These records
are not secret.
Thirdly, in those coun-
tries where 90 percent of
the Jewish population
was eventually extermi-
nated, the Nazis could
often rely on "local initia-
tive" to achieve their
ends. Indeed, the slaugh-
ter continued after Hi-
tler's armies were dis-
mantled.

The U.S. Constitution
provides for free speech but
specifically denies the right
to incite riot. There is no
justification to give the
Nazis a permit to march
through a Jewish commu-
nity.
