PHILADELPHIA (JTA)

— Rabbi Israel Miller, Is-
rael Task Force chairman
for the National Jewish
Community Relations
Advisory Council
(NJCRAC), said here that
there was great concern
about the Carter Adminis-
tration's position and pres-
sures on Israel.
Miller spoke at one of four
concurrent emergency
regional conferences con-
vened by NJCRAC last
Thursday to shape commu-
nity relations programs
concerning Israel. The other
conferences were held in At-
lanta, Chicago and San
Francisco.
"Although no resolutions
were passed," Miller said,

community have the

right to question our gov-

"The fact that so many
came on such short
notice is a demonstration
of the great concern of
Jewish communities for a
secure Israel," Miller de-

clared.

"Despite differences of
opinion regarding the tac-
tic, timing or perceptions of
the government of Israel,
there was unanimous sup-
port for Israel and for the
resumption of face-to-face
negotiations, and unanim-
ous expression against
pressure on Israel by the
Carter Administration. We
want the United States to be
the facilitator in negotia-
tions, and not what Sadat
calls the 'partner' in negoti-
ations," he declared.
Other speakers at the
meetings included the
Anti-Defamation League's
Dore Schary and Benjamin
R. Epstein; Bertram Gold,
American Jewish Commit-
tee; Phil Baum, American
Jewish Congress; Albert
Vorspan, Union of Ameri-
can Hebrew Congregations;
and Albert Chernin, execu-
tive vice chairman of the
NJCRAC.
In a related development,
Rabbi Joseph P. Sternstein,
president of the Zionist
Organization of America,
sharply criticized the Car-
ter Administration's Middle
East policies. Rabbi Sterns-
tein charged that "the cam-
paign to pressure Israel to
make concessions, which,"
he said, "may be harmful to
her very life, includes an or-
chestrated attempt to create
uncertainty and doubt in
the minds of her American
supporters, especially those

For a six year
old it's pretty hard to
balance two cultures. And
it can get to be more confusing
. . . it can get to be disheartening.
Sometimes it seems that somebody
else has all the fun.
Yeshivat Akiva gives a child
the happy feeling of belonging that
comes from sharing a culture, its
ideals and its identity. It Akiva
Hebrew Day School he knows that you
can be an American and a Jew at the
same time. The fun belongs to him
too.
There are other reasons your
child belongs in Akiva. An excellent
education complete in both Jewish and
secular studies, is one. A strong
sense of identity that comes with a

fundamental set of values, is
another.
With thing like these as
their foundation, there's no
telling how far your children
will grow.

NEW YORK — Swiss
authorities have denied
charges printed in the Los
Angeles Herald-Examiner
that Charlie Chaplin's body
was stolen from a Swiss
cemetery last month be-
cause he was Jewish.
The Swiss said the bodies
of several Jews are buried in
the small cemetery of
Corsier-Sur-Vevey.
According to Herald-
Examiner Hollywood repor-
ter James Bacon, Mr. Chap-
lin's widow was informed of
where the body was taken
by anti-Semitic relatives of

lin's grave. Swiss magis-
trate Daniel Tenthorey said
Mrs. Chaplin has been
cooperating fully in the in-
vestigation.
Mr. Chaplin's Jewish an-
cestry has been a source of
speculation for years, and
was never affirmed or de-
nied by Mr. Chaplin him-
self. He had long been a
supporter of the Church of
England, but was not a
