WHEN IS AN ORIEN-
TAL restaurant not exactly
an Oriental restaurant?
. . . Answer— when it is a
place called Rikshaw Inn on
Maple and Orchard Lake
Rd., in the Orchard Mall.
Dining here can be clas-
sified as an epicurean ad-
venture . . - with a tan-
talizing array of interna-
tional cooking.
As one top known local
personality remarked, "The
Rikshaw is a fantasy one
dreams about."
What other Oriental re-
staurant anywhere can
serve you a Caesar Salad _
. . . French Onion Soup
with baked cheese . . . Veal
Parmigiana . . . flambe'd
Steak Diane or flaming
Shrimp Saigon with cheese
sauce, among other, set-
afire tableside dishes by
owner-chef David Lum or
evening captain Tim Be-
mus?
People are beginning
to realize that aside from
its Oriental foods, the
continental dishes at
Rikshaw Inn are among
the best anywhere the na-
tion over.
Probably one of the finest
super fish dinners available
is at Rikshaw Inn . . . We
had it last week . . - Whole
Poached Lake Trout in a
creamed sauce of shrimp,
crabmeat and delicate
white wine . . . truly an
elegant and different dish
. . . very delicious .
Closest place we know that
prepares anything like this
delicacy is in Toronto . . .
Poached Lake Trout is not

on the menu, but can be got-
ten if ordered ahead of time.
Prior to the trout, our ex-
cellent waitress, 'Kathy
Heath, who has been with
the Rikshaw since it opened
in November of 1973, and
has few equals in efficiency
. . brought us some ap-
petizers which also have few
equals . . . Crab Macao
(crab meat and cream
cheese inside crispy de-
lights), Cheese Tangs (vari-
ous cheeses and spices in a
round, deep-fried dough at-
traction) and some tasty
and succulent baby bar-b-q
ribs . . . We also enjoyed
one of Rikshaw's popular
dishes, Hong Kong Steak
Paper Thin . . . filet
pounded like tissue, coated
with flaming mustard, but-
ter and garlic sauce and beef
tea.
What other Oriental re-
staurant can give you
Lamb Chops that have
been marinated for 24
hours . . . or Duck
Macao, made very crisp
in Bok Toy (Chinese veg-
etables) that tastes like
your good old-fashioned
Jewish grebenes? .. . It
is a ritual every Friday
night for a noted local
doctor to have Duck
Macao at Rikshaw Inn.
Everything is cooked to
order fresh . . . hardly any-
thing is pre-cooked . . . and
all foods are prepared 100
percent in vegetable oil.
Rikshaw Inn seats about
140 in two beautiful and
quiet dining rooms where
the tables are not practi-
cally on top of each other
. . - with table cloths and
cloth napkins at both lunch
and dinner.
Exotic drinks of all kinds
are popular Rikshaw favo-
rites.
There is plenty of fish
. . so very good, too . .
White Fish, Pickerel,
Dover Sole boned at the
table and served with al-
monds on the side for
amondining to your indi-
vidual taste.
People come from all over
for the Caesar Salad at Rik-
shaw Inn . . . and the
Oriental Greek Salad is also
a big favorite.
It is one of the few places
in town where you can get
Abalone . . . . not canned.
Celebrities from all walks
of life go to the Rikshaw Inn
. . . Whatever they want
from a very- good Chinese
meal to a continental gour-
met experience, it is availa-
ble in the warm, friendly
atmosphere that has made
