WANT A SKIMPY SANDWICH?
at Scotch 'n Sirloin on
Greenfield and John Lodge,
came here from Florida . . .
after owning his own place
and managing a number of
other spots . . . Jerry
knows the restaurant busi-
ness from every phase.
FORGOT TO mention
about Don Rickles and
Buddy Greco at the Sahara
Congo showroom while re-
cently in Las Vegas . . .
Rickles has added to the
millions already counted
among his followers as the
razor-sharp CPO Sharkey of
the NBC-TV series by the
same name.
To be singled out for in-
sults by Rickles at the Sah-
ara was tantamount to be
listed in "Who's Who." . .
He told Sinatra: "Come
right in, Frank, make your-
self at home — hit some-
body." . . . His fans and
friends know the zingers are
flung with love.
So how does a New York
kid get to be "King of the
Cut"? . . Rickles' vitriolic
style started by accident
shortly after World War II
. . . He was appearing in a
Washington, D.C. honky-
tonk when his rowdy audi-
ence began shouting to
bring on the girls . . Rick-
les turned the tables and
began insulting them . . .
With the put-downs, they
laughed and started to pay
attention.
Behind the barbs is in
intellect equally sharp
. . . Don keeps no gag
files and never writes a
line .. . Instead, his wit is
born of a remarkable re-
tentive mind that guides
his ad-libs.
As a counterpoint to Rick-
les' bombast, Buddy Greco
offered a musical tonic
suited to all ages and tastes
. . . He has continued to
grow as a talent from the
days he was a kid pianist
with the Benny Goodman
band . . . And like his good
friend, the late Nat "King"
Cole, his vocalizing was the
outgrowth of heading a jazz
trio.
But Greco is not content
to rest on his considerable
laurels, which include re-
cord sales in the millions
. . . His sound is new and
contemporary showing why
he is generally considered to
be one of the country's most
talented singers.
LITTLE HUNGARY is
new 50 or 60 seater opening
next week on 12 Mile, west ant menu, along with hot
of Greenfield . .. at site of dogs, hamburgers and the
former Balaton . . . New
(Continued on Page 38)
owner has much better
ideas for Hungarian food
and presentation . . . plus
larger menu and lower
prices . . . Also, no sense-
less counter as the former
had . . . He should do a
good job.

YES, THE GOOD ol'
peanut butter sandwich has
returned to at least one
place . . . the Bagel Nosh,
W. 10 Mile, east of Everg-
reen.
The passing of the peanut
butter sandwich from the
restaurant scene is a trend
we would like to see re-
versed . . . Time was when
the peanut butter sandwich
was a staple on any restaur-
