Mrs. Lessman Wins Founder
Award From Mizrachi Women
Nora Lessman, center, received a special founders
award from American Mizrachi Women March 5 at
the second annual dinner of Batya Chapter held at
Young Israel of Oak-Woods. Honorary National Pres-
ident Dvora Masovetsky addressed the dinner, at-
tended by more than 250. Shown with Mrs. Lessman
are Sol Lessman, husband of the honoree, and Janice
Berkower, past president of Batya Chapter.

to Meet Monday

a workshop day 11 a.m.

short business meeting will
take place following brunch
for which there is a charge.
Immediately following, a
workshop entitled "Say it
With Music" will be pre-
sented by Mrs. Simon Ber-
manis of Cong. Beth Achim,

A workshop entitled, "It's
in the Bag," will follow and
will be led by Mrs. Leo Papp,
branch visual techniques

Coq au Vin Carmel
Cooking with wine con-
tinues to gain in popularity,
with some so-called stan-
dard dishes reaching gour-
met status by the addition of
wine.
Kosher cooking can be
enhanced with Carmel
wines of Israel. Here wine is
selected for the cooking, as
well as to accompany the
meal.
One 21/2 to 3 lb. chicken quar-
tered
2 tps. chopped onion
1 heaping cup fresh sliced
mushrooms or 1 4-oz. can
sliced mushrooms drained
1 cup Carmel Cabernet
Sauvignon
1 bay ieaf,1 tsp. each to thyme
and pepper salt to taste
Yz taps. Instant blending flour
3 tablespoons water
chopped parsley
Place chicken In 12 Inch tef-
lon pan, skin side down saute
In Carmel Cabernet Sauvignon
until golden brown. Then akin
side up, continue sauteing
until browned on both sides.
Add onion, mushrooms, bay
leaf, thyme, pepper and salt,
cover and cook slowly 30-45
minutes or until chicken Is
tender, turning and basting
pieces occasionally.
Remove chicken from pan,
blend flour and water, stir into
pan juices, simmer stirring
sauce until it thickens. Taste
and correct seasoning. Return
chicken to pan, heat gently but
thoroughly before serving.
Serves 4.
