NATANYA (ZINS) — Is-
raeli and European scien-
tists are now testing a new
drug for diabetes that was
developed by an Israeli re-
searcher.
The drug, DID-42, is sup-
posed to be longer-acting,

HOLLYWOOD — How-
ard W. Koch, president of
the Academy of Motion Pic-
ture Arts and Sciences, has
announced that film pro-
ducer Walter Mirisch has
been voted this year's Irving
G. Thalberg Memorial
Award. Mirisch is the 22nd
individual to receive the
Thalberg Award since its
inception in 1937 (shortly
after movie pioneer Irving
Thalberg died at the age of
37). Not a mandatory
award, the plaque is given
to creative producers whose
body of work reflects a con-
sistently high quality of mo-
tion picture production.
Pandro S. Berman was the
recipient last year.
Mirisch, himself a past
president of the Academy,
with his brothers Harold
(now deCeased) and Marvin,
formed the Mirisch Corp. in
1957, producing such film
classics as "The Magnifi-
