there, we went to the Push
Cart Cafe, Riopelle and
Winder, on the wrong night.
The place is so cute and
clean . . . and could proba-
bly get much more business
if the dinners were served
complete instead of a la
carte . . . (menu says salad
and rolls, but we received
lettuce and bread.)
One of the walls at Push
Cart Cafe is filled with
labels off vegetable crates
. and lacquered . . The
salad bar, which does not
come with the meal, is $3.75
. . . and cleverly arranged
on a couple of push carts.
Our waitress, Vicki
Fichera, had a cute smile,
which she wore even
while telling us the coffee
machine was broke.
We had a fine dish called
The Wire Bound Crate .
thin slices of veal topped
with homemade cheese
sauces.
The men's room is very
clean.
IF YOU DON'T recog-
nize that fellow behind the
full beard at Pickle Barrel
Deli in Evergreen Plaza, it's
Al Winkler, one of the own-
ers . . He's had it about a
month . . and the growing
out itching is gone.
There's no truth what-
soever that Al and Sy
Ginsberg have sold out . .
or even contemplate such a
move.
THE END OF AN era
comes to pass with the name
Darbys changing hands
from Sam Boesky and Ber-
nie Kerner . . to Mike
Thomas, new owner of Dar-
bys Stanley Steamer in Oak
Park.
