gard both visits of historical
importance.
The open and warm
dialogue between Jose
Lopez Portillo, president of
Mexico, and President Kat-
zir, however, went beyond
the usual _diplomatic
amenities. It resulted in
immediate agreement bet-
ween the two heads of state
to widen communication
and cooperation between
the two nations, without
leaving the task of working
out such an agreement to
subordinate officials.
The Mexican Jewish
community, in its en-
thusiastic support of Presi-
dent Lopez Portillo's efforts
to improve the social and
economic position of mill-
ions of Mexicans, could not
have been more patrioti-
cally united, channeling in-
creasingly greater invest-
ments into Mexico's
economy to demonstrate
confidence and solidarity
with the President, while
maintaining spiritual iden-
tification with Israel.
In the short span of one
year under Lopez Portil-
lo's leadership (his is a
six-year term), a unique
and fruitful pattern of
cooperation has already
been established bet-
ween Mexico and Israel.
Existing fears, resulting
from Mexico's previous post
itions at the United Nations
and from the possibility
that the new administra-
tion- would take the same
stance, were quickly 'elimi-
nated by Lopez Portillo in
meetings with Jewish lead-
ers in Washington and
Mexico.

Holland Rep orted Abetting Arab Boycott

AMSTERDAM (JTA) =-
The Center for Information
and Documentation on Is-
rael (CIDI) reported that
compliance with the Arab
boycott of Israel is more
complete in Holland than in
any other Western Euro-
pean country.

tion to be adopted by Ot-
towa.
- The Jewish leaders
said that a report by the
Department of Industry,
Trade and Commerce
"clearly demonstrates
the weakness" of the
government's policy on
boycotts.
It noted that because of
the government's "narrow
definition" of a boycott, "a
large number of transac-
tions containing clauses
discriminatory against
Canadian citizens and bus-
iness are ignored."
The Jewish leaders
pointed out that the gov-
ernment was able to remove

boycott clauses from 24 con-
tracts, proving that "a firm,
comprehensive anti-boycott
policy could be effective
without prejudicing Cana-
da's trading links with the
Arab Mideast."

- The CIDI released the
names of 13 large Dutch
firms dealing with Arab
countries that adhere
strictly to the boycott de-
mands. It noted, at the same
time, that Dutch firms that
do not yield have not suf-
fered as 'a result.
