Monday morning, Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan said he "admired" the Shiloans' frank asser- tions that they wished to turn the place into a Jewish settlement, but it was for the government, not for them, to determine where and when settlements could be established. Cabinet Secretary Arye Naor told' newsmen the gov- ernment's position that the were Shiloans cheologists" having re- ceived the requisite permits from the military and civi- lian authorities to conduct a dig at the ancient onetime- site of the Israelite sanctuary. So long as they did nothing in contraven- tion of those permits, Naor said, no action would be taken against them. What they said to newsmen or others was of no legal im- port: what mattered was that they did. Thus, if they set up a bank at the spot, this would plainly be an in- fringement, Naor explained, because one does 'not need a bank in order to excavate an- tiquities. A branch of the Kupat Holim medical or- ganization was another matter, because one did need medical care. Yigael Yadin also had medical care on hand when he\ ex- cavated' Masada, Naor Egypt in any peace settle- ment. that at nig Somerset Dinner Theatre Alfred's presents "Here Lies Jeremy Troy" . a full-length Broadway Comedy Produced by Turgeon & Launce .
