NEW YORK — The
Jewish Defense League an,
nounced that it will not
allow the Nazi march slated
for the pred.ominatly Jewish
city of Skokie, Ill., to take
place.
JDL national director
Bonhie Pechter appealed to
American Jews to join the
protest, and in a letter to the
mayor of Chicago she said
the JDL "and a -legion of in-
furiated and vengefulJews
will be there to stop it, once
and for all through what-
ever means are necessary."
In a related development,
the National Jewish Com-
munity Relations Advisory
Council at its annual ple-
nary session last month
gave implicit endorsement
to the legal efforts of the

The plenary session, by
consensus, instructed the
executive committee of
NJCRAC to incorporate
in -its joint program plan
for 1978-79 a policy
statement which will
reassert the commitment
of the Jewish community
to the freedom of speech
guaranteed by the First
, Amendment.
At the same time, it will
take the view that Jewish
communities have the right
and the responsibility to
pursue Constitutional and
lawful remedies to specific
situations which threaten
their rights as U.S. citizens
and community peace and
order.
In Bonn, it was learned
that effective countermea-
sures against an increase in
neo-Nazi propaganda in
West Germany were called
for by Justice Minister
Hans-Jochen Vogel.
Meanwhile, in St. Louis,
an American Nazi group
has been issued a permit to
stage a parade on the city's
south side in conjunction
with the party's national
convention next month.
Assistant streets director,
Walter Able, said the
parade permit could be re-
voked if the threat of vio-
lence arises.
El Al Starts
Weekly Flight
From Mexico
MEXICO CITY (JTA) —
El Al hopes to encourage
tourists in Central America
and in the northern part of
South America to go to Is-
rael by taking its weekly
flight from Mexico City,
David Dinour, the airline's
new director general for
-Mexico and Central
America, said.
He said El Al, which has a
flight to Israel every Wed-
nesday from Mexico City, is
cooperating with the Mexi-
can national air companies
which serves -tourists bet-
ween Mexico and Central
and South America.
Dinour said he believes
many Christians in these
countries will now use El Al
to go directly to Israel.
