Veteran Dentist David Seligson, Active in Community

Dr. David Seligson, a vet-
eran in the ranks of practic-
ing dentists, who still con-
ducted an active 'practice
after 55 years since his
graduation from the Uni-

versity of Michigan, died
Feb.'7 at age 82.
Dr. Seligson, active in
congregational and com-
munal affairs, a lifelong
Zionist, commenced his

Jewish interests as a U-M
student. He was a member
of the old Menorah Associa-
tion which preceded Hillel
and was among the leaders
in Jewish student affairs.
Born- in Russia, Dr. Selig-
son lived 70 years in De-
troit. He was graduated _
from the U-M dental school
in 1921, and had Offices in
the David Broderick Tower.
A member of the U-M
Alumni Society, Dr.
Seligson was a past pres-
ident of the Detroit Dis-
trict Dental Society, past
president of the Michigan
State Dental Society and
was the first Jewish pres-
ident of each organiza-
tion. He wav awarded the
Michigan State Dental
Association's merit.
award in 1953.
Dr: Seligson was current

president of the relief com-
mittee of the American De-
ntal Association, a life
member of the American
College of Dentists and was
awarded a fellowship to the
American College of De-
ntists in 1964.
He was a life member of
the Zionist Organization of
America, a life member of
the Hannah Schloss -Old-
timers, a past boaid
member of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation, a 60-year
member of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, and a member of the
Founders Society of the De-
troit Institute of Arts and
Archives of American Art.

daughter, Mrs. Herschel
(Audrey) Ostrov of Cin-
cinati, Ohio; one brother,
two sisters and three grand-
sons.

Alfred Stern, owner of
Seal King Aluminum Pro-
ducts Co. in Detroit, died
Jan. 26 at age 65.
Born in Romania, Mr.
Stern lived 51 years in De-
troit. He was one of the first
members of Adat Shalom
Synagogue, a member of the
Philip Handler Lodge of
Bnai Brith. He retired
seven years ago. Mr: Stern
resided at 18804 Hilton,
Southfield.
He is survived by his wife,
Gertrude; two daughters,
Mrs. Linda Goren and Mrs.
Leonard (Joanne) Rosen-
berg; a brother, Nick; and
two grandchildren.
