DANCING FRI. & SAT. TO TOMMY GOOD & CO.

THE MAGIC transfor-
mation is hardly believable
. from King's Arms to The
Landing and now Sultan's
Table on Southfield, just
north of 10 Mile . . . quietly
elegant decor making up
what is now a northwest
showplace of pure beauty.
If there is anything to
overshadow this very' fine
masterpiece in gracious de-
sign, it is the excellent food
and service at Sultan's Ta-
ble.
Our waiter, John Gab-
bara, was superb . . . exp-
laining the Middle East
dishes as he served them ...
bringing coffee in fresh cups
. . . changing silverware .. .
and doing everything just
right . .. You could see John
was a most talented young
man . . : and this discovery
was even more emphasized
when learning that he was
the person responsible for
all those beautiful painted
murals on the . An
artist, cook, waiter and
probably many other things
. .. whatever, it is quite cer-
tain that John Gabbara
does them all well.
Upon our blue tablec-
loth were glistening
crystal-like settings for
water, sugar, salt and
pepper ... plus an elegant
wine carafe.

a.m. to 4 a.m

There were four of us .. .
and ever-so-good food for
much more . appetizers of
Huinmus Tahine (mashed
chick peas and -sesame seed
oil .blended together), Baba
Ghannouj (baked eggplant
blended and seasoned with
sesame seed oil), potatO
chops (potato and meat
deep-fried) and Tabboule
salad (parsley, scallions,
tomatoes, cracked wheat,
lemon juice, olive oil and
seasoning) served with
Romaine lettuce.
For our entree it was the
Sultan's Combination . . . a
most delicious tummy treat
. . . (shish kabob, kafta,
baked kibbi, rolled cabbage,
grape leaves, stuffed squash
and stuffed eggplant.)
Dessert was something,
we never had before . . .
Sambousik . . . walnuts,
honey and brown sugar
baked with a soft crust.
John's clfssert cart had
a bevy of tasty delicacies .
. . Middle Eastern pas-
tries seem to have some-
thing that puts them in a
class by themselves..
All food at Sultan's Table
is prepared-from natural in-
gredients . . . and all cooking
of meat is done over open
fire.
These distinct assets to
good health are Chaldean
methods that go back
thousands of years.
Downstairs at Sultan's
Table is a softly-lit, night-
club lounge seating 110 . . .
with belly dancing and exo
tic music Thursday, Friday
and Saturday . . . and piano
stylings, Monday, Tuesday
and Wednesday.
The dining room seats
about 125 in boo-ths and
open table . . . and is open
Monday through Friday for
lunch and Monday through
Saturday for dinkier.
Northwest Detroit has
another winner.

entertainment at Detroit
Plaza's Celebration Room in
the Renaissance Center, are

ler Show.
YOU CAN GET egg rolls
delivered now from Adam's
Rib, Greenfield and 10 Mile
. . . no joke . . . now that Bill
Kim is the new owner .. .
That's the only Chinese

dish, though . . . the others
are pizza, ribs, chicken and
fish 'n chips .- . . Bill also
owns a Little Red Hen in
Sterling Heights.

Saturdays at Alvaro's .. .

Saturdays at Venice of the
Woods . . . One number
takes all reservations,

RUMOR ABOUT being
up for sale is far-fetched in-
so-faras Jakks is concerned
. . . but not the one about a
couple of its owners, Ed
Goldberg and Harold Allen,
dickering to buy a 40-lane
bowling alley and lounge in
Milford. _
"BAREFOOT IN THE
PARK", comedy that broke
Neil Simon into Broadway
and marked the beginning
of one of the most successful
careers in the history of
playwrights, opens at the
Southfield Civic Theater
this weekend . . . Showtime
is 8 p.m. today and Sunday
and 9 p.m. on Saturday .. .

creation Building at 10 1/2

THAT "SPACE FOR
RENT" sign in front of
Wing Hong's of Far-
mington, 14 Mile and Or-
chard Lake Rd., doesn't
mean a thing.
Projection date for Wing's
Japanese Steak House,
which will take up all the
space, is hoped for first week
in April .. . Plans are for 16
teppan cooking tables,
with 10 seats, a
lounge, huge swimming
pool-size pond . . . and com-
bined seating for about 220
people.
Wing's Chinese restaur-
ant on 14 Mile has been
open three years, seating
280 ... and boasts one of the
finest managers around in
the personable Dean Lee,
who explained its weight
watching method of such
food ordered being washed
out with chicken broth .. .
All food can be made in
chicken broth too, says
Dean, without any lard or
vegetable oil . . . Strict veg-
