The former Pine Lake Boy Scout facility was purchased by Lubavitch in 1960, and the pine-panelled Hordes Lodge building was later erected through the philanthropy of the late William Hordes. According to camp offi- cials, investigating the blaze confirmed that all electricity and gas lines were shut off properly last fall at the termination of the camp season. Camp officials have requested the state fire marshall to investigate the cause of teh fire. They said there is uncon- firmed speculation of four play in view of "the seeming impossibility of interior sparking or fire, the ready access of area residents to the building by way of snowmobiles, and the scat- tered incidents of anti- Semitic harassment by local vandals during the past five summer seasons."
