Zeitlin Memorial Booklet Printed

PHILADELPHIA — To
honor the memory of Dr.
Solomon Zeitlin, world-
renowned biblical scholar,
educator and author who
died Dec. 28, 1976, Dropsie
University has just pub-
lished "A Memorial Tribute
to Dr. Solomon Zeitlin." He
was distinguished professor
of post-biblical literature
and institutions at Dropsie,
where he taught for more
than 60 years without mis-
sing a single class, and
served for many years as
editor of the university's
"Jewish Quarterly Review."

A number of Dropsie col-
leagues and others closely
associated with Dr. Zeitlin
wrote of his personal and
professional life. Articles
for the "Memorial Tribute"
were contributed by Dr.
Leon J. Perelman, the new

president of Dropsie Uni-
versity; Rabbi Reuben J.
Magil, spiritual leader of
Cong. Beth Zion-Beth Israel
and a former president of
the Dropsie Alumni Associ-
ation, who numbered Dr.
Zeitlin among his congreg-
ants; Dr. Abraham I. Katsh,
president emeritus and dis-
tinguished professor of
Hebraica research at Drop-
sie.

PLO Professors

WASHINGTON (ZINS)
— Among the 200 profes-
sors of Palestinian descent
who teach in the U.S. are
several rumored to be fa-
vored by Egyptian Presi-
dent Anwar Sadat to repre-
sent the Palestinians at any
reconvened Geneva confer-
ence.
They include: Harvard
University's Wal id Khalidi;
Ibrahim Abu Lughod (wh-
ose wife is a Jew from
Chicago); Columbia's Ed-
ward W. Said; and
Georaetown's Hisham
Sharabi.
Sharabi, however, is not a
member of the Palestine
National Council.

Also, Dr. Solomon
Grayzel, professor of his-
tory; and Dr. Sidney B.
Hoenig, adjunct profes-
sor of talmudic studies,
whose most recent work,
"Solomon Zeitlin: Scho-
lar Laureate,"provided
an annotated bibliog-
raphy of the more than
400 books and articles
written and published by
Dr. Zeitlin. A personal
account was given by
Joel Louis Spector, Dr.
Zeitlin's nephew.
