Zionist information month
was launched by the govern-
ment information center
and the Israel Zionist Coun-
cil to increase Israeli youth
awareness about the up-
coming World Zionist Con-
gress.

SHAAREY ZEDEK youth
will meet for Shabat serv-
ices 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
the synagogue. Chaverim
(second-fifth graders) will
meet in the youth lounge,
Kadima (sixth-eighth gra-
ders), Tikvah Chapel; and
junior congregation (ninth-
12th graders), daily chapel.
Kadima will host the sev-
enth grade of the Holy Fam- •
ily Parish -Church of Novi
Saturday. A' luncheon will
follow services.. Students in
grades six-eight are wel-
come. Admission is free.
The junior congregation
will join the men's club for
a minyan and breakfast pro-
gram on "Cult — A Four-
Letter Word!" 9 a.m. Sun-
day in the daily chapel. Mr.
and Mrs. Morton Eden,
whose daughter was a mem-
ber of the Unification
Church, will speak on how
they "rescued" and depr-
ogrammed her. Admission
is free. Families are in-
vited.

weekend retreats today
through Sunday for children
in grades three-six. Along

one-act play, "The Gates of
Righteousness," will be pre-
salted.
BSUSY will sponsor a
"Salute to the Beatles" city-
wide dance 9 p.m. Feb. 4 in
the synagogue. Admission is
nominal, and area teens are

for children age 2-6 will

cial Shabat prayers, songs,

gregation for Kidush follow-
ing services.

Kollel Hosts
Teen Classes

The Detroit Kollel In-
stitute in Oak Park is offer-
ing classes studying Talmud
and Torah. Interested high
school students can call

The Kollel's Young Adult
Talmud Study Group recent-
ly celebrated a siyum com-
pleting the first chapter of
the tractate Sukka. Students
Kenny Bernard, David
Gottfried, Steven Levi and
Ayal Tzeel made presenta-
tions and Dr. Arnold Zuroff
presented awards to the stu-
dents.
The group, led by Rabbi
Eli Kaplan, _meets three
evenings per week.

BBYO
Activities

More than 350 Michigan
BBYOers attended the an-
nual Michigan BBYO Re-
gional Convention at the
main Jewish Community
Center. Chapters in Grand
Rapids, Mt. Clemens, Flint,
and Windsor, as well as
throughout the Metropolitan
Detroit area participated.
Theme of the convention
was "Reflecting on Our
Lives as Jewish Teens."
Coordinators were Bryan
Kraft of Kishon AZA and
Debbie Davidson of Glazer
BBG.
The highest award pre-
sented at the convention
was the Most Distinguished
Chapter Award, this year
given to Theodor Herzl AZA
of Windsor, and, for the
third consecutive year, Ben-
jamin Disraeli BBG.

the third consecutive year

The Great Lakes AZA
Council Basketball Le
will begin its annual
petition 4:30 p.m. Sunday at
the 10 Mile Jewish Commu-
nity Center branch. The
games for the 11-week
league will be played both
at the 10,Mile Center and at
the Windsor Jewish Com-
munity Centre. Chairman
for the league is Danny
Greene of Benny AZA. The
public is invited.

Kishon AZA will hold a
fund raising as sponsor of a
group at the Feb. 11 Detroit
Pistons basketball game.
