Dr. Fred • Rosner will
speak under the auspices of
the Metropolitan Detroit
Council of Young Israel 8:30
p.m. Feb. 6 in Stollman Hall
of Young Israel of Oak-
Woods. He will speak on
"Ethical and Halakhic
Problems Facing Modern
Medicine."
Dr. Rosner is director of
hematology at Queens Hos-
pital Center, affiliated with
the Long Island Jewish-Hill-
side Medical Center, and
associate professor of Medi-
cine, State University of
New York -College of Medi-
cine at Stony Brook.
He is the recipient of the
Maimonides Award from
the Michael Reese Medical
Center and Chicago College
of Jewish studies for "no-
table contributions to the
field of medicine and Ju-
daica" (1969), the Bernard
Revel Memorial Award
from the Yeshiva College
Alumni Association for "dis-
tinguished achievement in
the arts and sciences"
(1971), and the Maimonides
Award of Wisconsin for
"distinguished and extradit

T'chiyah Will
Host Classes

Cong. T'chiyah will begin
its family education pro-
gram 10 a.m. Feb. 5 in the
synagogue, 1035 St. Antoine,
Detroit. The class will run
through April 30, excluding
April 23 for Pesach.
There will be a beginning
Hebrew reading course,
with emphasis on reading
the prayerbook, which will
be taught from 10 to 11 a.m.
The 11 a.m. - noon session
will be divided into two six-
week courses.
The first course will be
"History of Jewish Law,"
taught by Rabbi Max Ka-
pustin. The second course,
beginning March 19, will be
"History of the Second
Temple Era," taught by
Rabbi Howard Addison.
Adults may register for one
or all of the classes.
Children age six-12 will
meet 10 a.m. for their own
activity groups.

Israeli Journalist
Due at Bnai Moshe

Dr. Yosef Goell, staff
writer for the Jerusalem
Post and lecturer in politi-
cal science at the Hebrew
University, will be guest
speaker at Shabat services 9
a.m. Saturday at Cong. Bnai
Moshe. He will speak on
"Obstacles to Peace in the
Middle East."
Dr. Goell is a political
columnist, editorial writer,
news editor, parliamentary
correspondent, economic
correspondent and United
States and United Nations
correspondent for Ma'ariv.
He has taught at Bar-Ilan
and Fordham Universities
and has lectured widely for
the Israel Defense Forces.
He received his doctorate
in political science from Co-
lumbia University in 1971.
Dr. Goell made aliya in
1948.

topics. He is a member of
numerous professional and
scientific organizations and
was recently appointed to

tory of medicine at the Al-
bert Einstein College of
Medicine of Yeshiva Uni-
versity.

Rabbi Sherwin Wine of
the Birmingham Temple
will deliver a lecture based
on Simone de Beauvoir's
"Coming of Age" 8:30 p.m.
Monday in the temple.
The public is invited, and
there is a charge.
Rabbi Wine will join Dr.
Sonya Friedman for a pro-
gram on love 8 p.m.
Thursday at the Grosse
Pointe War Memorial Audi-
torium.
