If the old men tell you
"throw down" and the
young men tell you "build
up," throw down and do not
build up, because destruc-
tion, by the old, is construc-
tion, and construction, by
the young, is (often) de-
struction.

expanded version of the oth-
er Nemo's menus; 'a larger
sandwich selection (includ-
ing the "Duce" -named af-
ter Henry II and the Alfred
"Taubman"), omelets, buf-
fet-style sandwich bar for
prime ribs and the like, four
or five elaborate salads and
special toppings for the
ground rounds.
Nemo's downriver is open

DIAMOND JIM BRADY'S

owner, Tom Brady, is going
to keep the old place on
Seven Mile near Greenfield
going principally for the
luncheon crowd who surge in
during the week for some of
the best "jazzed up"
hamburgers and chili on the
northwest side of Detroit. His
new place in Prudential
Town Center is now due to
open (for real) in April or
May, much larger than the
. old place — seating 160, it will
have basically the same
menu as the Seven Mile spot.

It will be located in the
garden area, adjacent to the
theatre-entertainment group
where other restaurants are
now located. It's a beautiful
setting and Brady's will re-
tain the 1890's atmoshpere
that has made his Seven
Mile customers comfortable
for nearly 25 years. Sound
like a good place to go at
night for a simple meal and
a drink or two before or
after a movie.

TWEENY'S CAFE at 280
N. Woodward, Birmingham
is now open for dinner 6-9
p.m. Wednesday through
Friday. Moreover, the Bir-
mingham city fathers have
now approved a full liquor
license (still waiting though
for a Lansing ok, hopefully
by the end of January).
Mark and Yvonne Gill
Davis serve superb food at
reasonable prices at lunch
and have carried that theme
over to the dinner hour.
Entrees are in the $5.50 -
range and well worth it
considering the quality and

imagination of the food and
the aesthetic surroundings.
Dinner specialties are gen-
erally prepared for two
people—but if the conditions
warrant, may be juggled to
fit an uneven number of
diners in your party.

The menu changes con-
stantly to reflect the sea-
sons and market supplies
but here are a few recent
"creations": souffles: crab
and mushroom - or - zuc-
chini; plats de jour: beef
steak pudding; rack of
lamb; white veal ragout
with mustard sauce and
noodles; quail ($12.50). It's
superb—and—if you really
want to freak out bring
along kids' piggy bank and
shop at the "to go" gourmet
section.

Tweeny's is also open for
lunch Tuesday-Saturday
from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
closed Sundays, Mondays
and holidays ; better check
for reservations, this is soon
going to be a very "in"
place.

LYLE LABELL, to whom
I talked just before New
Year's, told me that he is
taking the philosophy of his
belt bursting Old Time Deli
at 27701 Orchard Lake Rd.
in Farmington Hills and
moving fast with it to addi-
tional locations. For ex-
ample in March or April
two new Motor Qty Old
Time Delis will open at Sev-
en Mile near Telegraph (150
seats and liquor) and at six
Mile near Greenfield (70
seats—no booze) ; then, also
in March or April one more
in Walled Lake near Pontiac
Trail - Maple Road (200
restaurants seats plus 200
more for full catering—no
liquor).

Add one in the summer in
Brighton on Grand River
and you wonder if the man
ever sleeps. Apparently not
since in late spring a fast-
food version, strickly carry-
out, is due to open on South-
field between 12 Mile and 13
Mile (according to Lyle,
this one is going to be the
McDonald's of corned beef ).
Hopefully Lyle will rest in
the seventh month.

OLGA'S KITCHENS are
sprouting up all over town
(and in fact all over the
country) from their modest
beginning in Birmingham's
Continental Market. Olga's
special version of souvlaki
and the Olga Hot Dog must
be on its way to replacing
fried chicken in the hearts
of her customers.

Our brand new book lists
five Olga's. Well, now there
are 10. One at Eastland next
to Hudson's, one due to open
at "Ren-Cen" in February,
one in East Lansing across
from the Student's Union,
another in the San Fran-
cisco Bay area and the last
(for a day or two) in the
Chicago suburbs.
