Activities Are Scheduled for Allied . Jewish Campaign
Israeli journalist, scholar
and attorney Akiva Baum
will speak at two meetings
to benefit the Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emergen-
cy Fund next week.
At 9:45 a.m. Sunday he
will address the annual
breakfast caucus of the_Pro-
fessional Service Division's
Accountants Section at
Cong. Beth Achim.
On Wednesday, Baum will
be guest speaker at a Cam-
paign parlor meeting at the
Bloomfield Hills home of
Jewish Welfare Federation
President Martin E. Citrin.
Baum is a partner in one
of Israel's first international
law firms, serving in its
Manhattan-based American
branch.
The next - parlor meeting
is scheduled for Feb. 1. Eu-
gene Weiner, chairman of
the sociology department at
Haifa University, will
speak.
I Also on Feb. 1, Men's Pre-
Campaign Section of the
Junior Division will hold a
cocktail party at 7:30 p.m.
in the, Grand Ballroom of
the Sheraton-Southfield Ho-
tel.
Speaker will be Israeli at-
torney Shlomo Cohen, who
is currently teaching at New
York University Law School
while practicing for a year
with a New York law firm.
Cohen, who has completed
work for a doctorate in law
at NYU, served as secre-
tary general . of the Israel
Students Association for the
UN, representing Israel at
United Nations conferences
in Denmark, Cyprus and
Kenya. He was among the
founders of the Tel Aviv
University Legal Aid Asso-
ciation and served as its
president in 1971 and 1972.
