From his youth to his ju-
dicial career, as a dedicated
worker in support of- many
causes, Judge John Wise
has made many friends,
winning acclaim in many
ranks.
These devotions to his
faith and nation are now
reflected in the scores of
greetings he is receiving on
his 70th birthday.
Born in Peekskill, New
York, in 1908, Judge Wise
moved with his family to
Great Falls, Mont. In 1920,
the Wise family moved to
Detroit. The judge helped
augment his spending mon-
ey by selling newspapers_
and he is a life 'member of
the board and a past presi-
dent of the Old Newsboys'
Goodfellow Fund of Detroit.
In 1930, he earned a Juris
Doctor degree from Wayne
State University Lavl,
School, supporting his edu-
cation by selling ladies
shoes.

On Sept. 22, 1930, Judge.
Wise married the former
Sunny Ann 'Malkin.
After hearing cases for 15
years as a referee in De-
troit's Recorder's Court -
Traffic and Ordinance Divi-
sion, he was elected in 1959
to the Wayne County Circuit
Bench, where he has served
for 19 years.
In 1969, Judge Wise re-
ceived the Distinguished
Alumni Award from Wayne
State University Law
